important annual lecture is an exploration of how Catherine’s
principles can inform upon issues facing contemporary society.
This year’s lecturer is renowned theologian and author, Mary
Catherine Hilkert, OP. She is an associate professor at the
University of Notre Dame.

Social and legal issues surrounding hate crimes, discussed by
Judy Shepard, mother of Matthew Shepard, a college student who
was murdered in Wyoming in 1998.

Symposium: “Religion and the Law”
This two day event is a collaboration between Madison’s
higher education institutions.

Edgewood/ UW Honoring Bill Young
This event honors Bill Young (long time Edgewood College
Trustee and Professor Emeritus at UW) for his achievements in
International Relations and Education.
26 > Washburn Dinner
6:00pm • Washburn Heritage Room
An annual
dinner to recognize the College’s major benefactors. It is named
for Governor Washburn who donated his Edgewood Estate to the
Sinsinawa Dominicans “for educational purposes” in 1881.
